Terms of service
Last updated 25 October 2026
1. Who we are
thetribe.africa is operated by Mubanza Haggai, trading as thetribe.africa, based in Uganda ("we", "us"). When you use thetribe.africa or buy a domain from us, you are entering into an agreement with Mubanza Haggai. You can reach us at support@thetribe.africa.
2. Accepting these terms
By creating an account, placing an order or continuing to use thetribe.africa, you agree to these terms, our privacy policy and our refund policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. If you use thetribe.africa for an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it. If you are an individual, you confirm you are old enough to enter into a binding contract where you live.
3. What we provide
We let you search for domain names, buy registrations for one to ten years, and manage them. Domains are registered through our accredited registrar partner and are subject to the rules of the registry that runs each extension (for example .africa, .ug or .com) and to ICANN policies where they apply. A domain is only yours once the registry confirms the registration. If a domain can't be registered after you pay, we refund it in full.
4. Your account and details
- Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Give accurate contact details and keep them up to date. Registries require this and may suspend domains with false or outdated information.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use thetribe.africa, or any domain you register with us, to:
- break the law or help others break it;
- commit fraud, phishing or send spam;
- infringe anyone's trademarks, copyright or other rights, including cybersquatting;
- spread malware, probe or attack systems, or interfere with the service's security;
- scrape the service, overload it or get around its limits.
6. Prices, payments and taxes
Prices are set in US dollars. Amounts shown in other currencies are estimates. Card and PayPal payments are charged in USD; mobile money payments are charged in your local currency at the exchange rate shown before you confirm. The first year is charged at the registration price and any extra years at the renewal price shown before you pay.
Card, PayPal and wallet orders are conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for those orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are covered by Paddle's Buyer Terms together with our refund policy.
Mobile money payments are processed by Flutterwave. For orders paid by mobile money, Mubanza Haggai is the seller and handles customer service, applicable taxes and refunds under our refund policy.
7. Renewals
Registrations last for the number of years you buy. You can renew from your domains page at the renewal price shown at the time. If you switch on automatic renewal (card or PayPal only), we charge your saved payment method at the renewal price for each renewal period until you turn it off, which you can do at any time from your domains page; it then stops after the period already paid for. We email you 30, 7 and 1 day before a domain expires. If a domain is not renewed in time it may lapse and become available to others.
8. Our intellectual property
Mubanza Haggai owns thetribe.africa, its software, design, text and branding. You get a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose. You must not copy, resell or reverse-engineer it. Domain names you register are yours to use, subject to registry rules.
9. Service level
We work to keep thetribe.africa available and accurate, but we can't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Search results come from our registrar partner and can change between search and checkout; we check every domain again before you pay. To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided "as is", without implied warranties of fitness for a particular purpose.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close your account, or ask the registry to suspend a domain, if:
- you seriously or repeatedly break these terms;
- a payment fails, is reversed or charged back;
- we see a security or fraud risk; or
- a registry, registrar, court or authority requires it.
You can stop using the service at any time. Domains you have already registered stay registered until they expire, and you can ask us for the code to move them to another provider.
11. Liability
We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for fraud, death or personal injury.
12. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms and will show the date of the latest version above. If a change is significant, we'll tell you before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of Uganda, and disputes go to the courts of Uganda, unless the law where you live gives you other rights.
